Kinetic Sculptures

Hello!

Last week Alyce and I got assigned a new task; it involves designing play scapes for children, to fit within an already established museum. Within this task we were asked to construct two separate white card models per week, each week considering different design criteria. For the first week we were told to research online ideas consistent with the attributes that a) inspire thoughts about beauty, b) suggest and engage curiosity and c) put smiles on faces. To begin with, I was completely overwhelmed, a feeling I was sure would dissipate with research and careful consideration. You see, I'm one of those people who like to get excited about things, I like to make plans. At one time I can have up to 3 life plans going at once! The world is such an amazing place, I often find myself lost in a sea of ideas and potential goals, which in itself is both confusing and ridiculously exciting.

During our online research Alyce and I came across a man named Theo Jansen and his Kinetic Sculptures. It’s the small things like stumbling onto this clip that shifts the weight of the intense workload and pressures to be creatively brilliant into inspired determination. I think that’s a feeling worth sharing!

One a side note, this week we plan to get creative on our business front.
(As well as tackle two white card models + other classes)

Keep you posted!
